Position Summary
The Database Management Specialist will be responsible for managing the project’s databases, ensuring that all results and analyses are properly documented and distributed to inform project development and that the data sets are provided to USAID following Open Data Requirements. S/he will assist the survey teams to develop data entry templates; ensure that the data collected by tablets are backed up on a regular basis; and verify that the data on tablets align when uploaded. For data collected using pencil/paper, s/he will help develop a database using a database application; develop data entry templates, use appropriate skip rules and data entry masks to minimize data entry errors; ensure that a double entry system is used; and run data integrity tests. Candidates must have at least five years of experience developing and managing large databases. S/he must be familiar with US government database systems and the US government’s Open Data requirements. S/he must have a graduate degree and have a broad familiarity with food security and/or vulnerable populations.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Education/ Experience:
- Master’s degree or higher in database administration, data architecture, data management or international development with 5-7 years of Experience.
- CDMP or MDM certification optional but preferred.
- Five years of experience in data architecture, modeling, and data governance.
- Knowledge of common database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server.
- Proficiency with SAS.
- Design and production of reports with a focus on International Development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Skills:
- Experience in developing a roadmap for an overarching data management and strategy initiative at an enterprise level.
- Experience moving large amounts of quantitative data efficiently.
