Chief of Party (South Africa)
Position Summary
The South Africa Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning Project (MERL) will support USAID/South Africa’s MERL needs in the health sector by carrying out several tasks related to PEPFAR and other USAID health projects. Tasks include SIMs analytics and assessments, PEPFAR performance reports, data visualization, evaluations, special studies, performance management tasks, capacity building, and other MERL tasks.
ME&A is recruiting a Chief-of-Party (COP) who will be responsible of managing a team in South Africa and several other teams comprised of short-term technical assistants. MERL is a three year project, with two option years, located in Pretoria, South Africa. The Chief of Party will administer and manage the MERL project.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Requirements for this position include:
- Graduate Degree in Public Health, International Development, Monitoring and Evaluation or related field.
- Experience managing health projects with PEPFAR, experience desired.
- At least 5 years as a Project Director for development projects.
- Experience interacting with senior U.S. government officials.
- Experience interacting with senior South African government officials preferred.
- Experience recruiting and successfully managing consultants and ensuring the quality of their products.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include management oversight; quality control and timeliness of all deliverables; review of all financial and logistical information on a periodic basis; and recommendation and evaluation of proposed staff.
