Junior Level Grant Specialist for Food Aid Program Assistance

ME&A is recruiting a Junior Level Grant Specialist to support USAID’s Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) in its operational and administrative support in coordination with programs to coordinate international disaster response and humanitarian assistance; emergency and developmental food aid; conflict mitigation programs; transition activities; and other DCHA Bureau initiatives.

The Junior Grant Specialist will be responsible for entering appropriate grants information into the client’s assistance planning and financial systems and for maintaining and reconciling the database containing grant award information, status and ownership. The Junior Level Grant Specialist will review and record incoming requisitions for grants funding for accuracy prior to handing the grants requisitions over to Mid-Level and/or Senior Level Grant Specialists. She/he will prepare and audit all award files for the approval of the client’s Agreement Officer for grants. The Junior Level Grant Specialist is also responsible for dissemination of grant documents to grantees, overseas missions and other client’s stakeholders.

The Junior Level Grant Specialist will serve as the contact person for all requests from USAID/Washington and overseas Missions concerning grants. She/he ensure a high level of quality control and serve as the central information clearinghouse for all grant actions and correspondence including the organization of the official grant files for year-end audits. The Junior Level Grant Specialist will become familiar with client’s Program Planning, Tracking & Monitoring System and use this as a tool to share grant information with its client. Other qualifications include:

  • A At least a Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, agricultural economics or related field;
  • At least (3) years of work experience managing grants;
  • Experience managing data bases and financial information;
  • Experience managing grants especially in the area of food aid;
  • Experience working in the areas of food and nutrition:
  • Knowledge of Feed the Future programs is a plus:
  • Experience working with USAID is a plus.
