18th Annual World Bank Land and Poverty Conference

81dc7c78 0e23 4a5b 9073 538a4a8dff8b largeCarlos Beale, ME&A VP, and Loren Schulze, ME&A Director of Business Development, attended the World Bank Land and Poverty Conference at World Bank headquarters in Washington, D.C. from March 20 to March 24, 2017. More than 200 presentations were made during the course of the three-day conference, including topics of special interest to ME&A on land and governance, anti-corruption and spacial imagery.

The annual World Bank conference has become one of the largest international events on land governance. It brings together over 1,200 participants from across the globe—including representatives from government, academia, civil society, and the private sector—to discuss new research, innovations, practices, and policies to strengthen land and resource governance.

Carlos at USAIDME&A currently holds the USAID Strengthening Tenure and Resources Rights (STARR) IQC as a subcontractor to Tetra Tech International Development. STARR is a five-year program that provides short and long-term technical assistance to improve security of property rights and increase land access.

Through STARR, ME&A is participating in the implementation of three USAID funded programs related to land tenure including the Ethiopia Land Administration to Nurture Development (LAND) Program, the Colombia Land and Rural Development Program, and the Kosovo Property Rights Program.
